Tips To Survive The Lockdown

Hello and Welcome Back! I hope you and your loved ones are doing well and my prayers with your loved ones who were or are affected. I took a long break from the blog because of my final termI exams. Now that I am free, I wanted to share my lockdown experience at the time of the COVID-19 second wave in India. Apart from the strict following of the covid guidelines of wearing masks, gloves and sanitizing yourself. (Which you should follow as good citizens) Here are 5 steps to survive the lockdown from my experience

Here is the YouTube podcast version

  1. Productivity

You can increase your productivity by taking up some courses, start a blog or a YouTube channel, cooking, pick up an activity, start kitchen gardening, learn a new skill, a new language or pursue a hobby. I for one in the early rise of the pandemic in March 2020 started with a course and as of now, I am working on my 3rd course because in this new real world that is changing. More than the technical skills and no matter how many degrees you have all over the world. You should learn a particular skill and this pandemic is a wake up call for you to pursue a skill. According to several case studies many people aren’t employed mainly on the basis of the lack of skills of a person. Skills like:

  1. Research Skills
  2. Negotiation Skills
  3. Problem Solving
  4. Leadership
  5. Management
  6. Motivation
  7. Persuasion
  8. Artificial Intelligence or Coding
  9. Articulation or Storytelling

These are most of the skills that you will need and you can take a course on such skills like artificial intelligence, negotiation, research or problem solving skills which is why you should be learning a skill or pick a course using platforms like Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare etc. Trust me because I have done so many courses which taught me life long skills and there’s no form of learning in this world that can possibly be wasted. In order to survive the lockdown along with the loneliness and boredom that you feel on a day to day basis which is clearly normal as everyone including me have bad days daily and one thing you can do apart from signing up for a course is:

2. Exercise

Most of us in the beginning of the first wave lockdown started growing our bellies and maybe you can compensate with it by exercising daily and lose weight because by the time the cases deteriorate and the world goes back to square one. You can start off with a healthy body. My experience with exercising on a daily basis is that it has helped me in the consistency and productivity because working out everyday does help you in building up a focus as well as giving you the energy to complete your tasks daily. So exercising everyday will help you in this lockdown. That’s why exercise can help you to strengthen your body in being fit.

3. Binge Watching

You are at home and to watch something in your leisure time, (which is probably half of your day) there are a hundred things to binge-watch on your screens of several genres. I will surely recommend you some really good series to watch and maybe you can also refer to my YouTube channel for recommendations. I would recommend you to watch as much positive, friendly, and funny content as possible because we are dealing with the second wave of a pandemic and it would be better if we keep positive things in our environment which includes the content we watch. I would also suggest watching old movies especially the kind of movies or series that bring a smile to you

4. Gratitude

According to several surveys and articles, most people aren’t grateful for things with several reasons like:

  1. Job stress
  2. Contributing to help the family
  3. Financial stress
  4. Job and family adjustment
  5. Cynical comments of the society

This is why one should be grateful for things in life: Things that we take things for granted. My family and I have been practicing the act of gratitude for the past five years or so where we tell each other what are we grateful for or before going to bed I tell myself what am I grateful for. The act of gratitude is an evolving practice. For example: If you are coming from somewhere or going somewhere, you can say that I am grateful for my pair of shoes to help me walk faster or grateful for a mask to protect me. India ranks 139 of 156 countries mainly because most of the Indian society tends to be more thankless and cynical. This is why during this pandemic one should focus on the art of being grateful and thankful for things in our life.

5. Your Mindset

How you do things clearly depends on your mindset. Even if you have to fight against the aliens to save the planet and you are the only one. One wins with the mindset, winners always have a positive mindset. If you have an optimistic mindset which helps you in overcoming the worst things possible because an optimistic mindset gives you the inner confidence and motivation to face the worst possible things ever, the most crucial part of surviving the second wave is having an optimistic mindset. For example: If Santiago from the book the Alchemist was cynical about his dream of the treasure then he would not get the treasure. Or for example, if all the Avengers were thinking negatively about defeating Thanos then all Avengers would die instead of Vision, Iron Man, and the Black Widow alone. This means you should think like a warrior who accepts challenges who do not only survive till the end but overcomes the fears, challenges, risks, and in the end, the warrior wins

These are the five tips to overcome the lockdown

  1. Productivity: Enroll in a course/start a blog/ a YouTube channel
  2. Exercise: Fitness helps you focus
  3. Binge Watching: Watch as much content possible to not keep you idle
  4. Gratitude: Always be grateful for things you take for granted
  5. Mindset: Have a positive mentality and be confident to overcome all disasters

Hope you do follow them and comment down below on how did it help.
